Q: Where can I find wires that go into a 2004 Kia Spectra Alternator and estimated cost.
The wires going into my alternator are a little frayed and I am having a difficult time trying to find where I can purschase them and about how much would they cost. I'd prefer not to go thru the dealership because I'm sure they'd be more expensive, but I may have to... any insight would be great. Thanks! :) Would it be cheaper to get the alternator wires from the dealer or another parts place?

A: from an overall standpoint you are better off getting an OEM part. At least they test thier parts and stand by them. These knockoffs are many time too shoddily made.

Q: How do I take the battery out of my 2004 Kia Spectra? I have the cables off, but I can't get to the bolt.?
Do I need a special tool? I think the bolt is a 10mm and I have the socket. Thank you for your kind consideration and help.

A: you need a long extension like a 6 or 12 in please let me know if you need any more help!!

my key broke inside and I can't pull it out. Thanks

A: you have to pull the steering wheel and everything out of it to get to it,if you don't have the right tools, you,ll get right in the middle of it and have to stop, you might want to let a shop take care of this one,you should be able to get the other part of the key in it,and get it started.good luck with it.

Q: Do You Blelieve the Kia Spectra (2004.5) is Great?
My family has a 2004.5 Kia Spectra. It has over 90,000 miles and has never been in the shop for repairs, only oil changes. It looks great and gets about 30 miles to the gallon minimum. It is very roomy. Would you buy one?

A: Yes, I would. I have driven them a few times. I know they are good cars. They just have a bad reputation because they were bad in the 90's.

Q: Who owns a Kia Spectra 2004.5 or newer?
My family owns a 2004.5 Kia Spectra that is great. I wanted to know what other people think of them.

A: I have a 2005 spectra and my wife/family has a 2006 Sedona - love both of them - no issues with the car or van - great buying experience for both of them - could not say anything bad about them.

Q: Transmission flush for an automatic 2004 Kia Spectra with 50,000 miles?
Since my car was a few months old, it sometimes won't shift out of first gear. When I've taken it to the dealer in the past, they've said that they can't find anything wrong with it and I'd have to bring it back when it's acting up (which is impossible because it does it randomly). Now there's about 50,000 miles on it and the dealer is saying that a transmission flush would probably fix the problem, which I'm not sure I believe beacuse it's been doing it all along. I've never had a flush and I've heard negative things.

A: a flush at this milage would be ok its supposed to be done at 60k anyway. you should have a 100,000 mi warranty on powertrain anyway if the flush messes something up. Alot of times when you have an old car and you havent kept up withe the service will run in to some problems when you flush the trans. Have the dealer do an extensive test on the trans and check pressures on shift points this can also weed out you problem. You should try to see if they can warranty the flush have them pull out records of the problem to back up your request I dont guarantee you itll work but its worth a try

Does this car have a filter in the transmission? I'm getting ready to drain and replace the filter(if it has one) as I have 33K miles. I've looked in the Autozone and NAPA websites and came up empty. While I'm here is there a website available for Kia repair info?

A: Yes it does, remove the pan on the bottom of the trans, the filter will be visible. you can type in repairs to 2004 kia spectra,it will put you to a web site! i just went there to find your info for you.

Q: Kia Spectra Parts nightmare ? Anyone?
OK so I have a 2004 Kia Spectra EX. I've needed new brakes once before, and a new windshield. EVERY TIME I have ever needed something, it has been a nightmare. After having a small crack on my windshield I decided I wanted the whole thing replaced. After they cut off the original they realized that it was a DIFFERENT version of a 2004 kia and that it was a half year (2004.5?) With brakes it was the same thing.. He said after taking the brakes off my car, that he had the wrong pads and rotors. And now... Today after taking my car to a well established mechanic, he just now calls to tell me that he has the wrong rear brake pads and rotors/drums. Does any mechanic or Kia owner have/had this issue?

A: Either go to the dealer for service or make sure to emphasize that an independent shop use your Vehicle's Identification Number (VIN) (driver's side dash) to order parts from. Also record the date of manufacture of your vehicle and write those two things on the shop order you sign when you drop the car off. Every car has parts issues, not just your car. Remember, you have a 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Not many cars have that to boast about! http://www.kiatechinfo.com/index.asp

Q: Does anyone know anything about the car KIA Spectra or Rio???
Hello their my parents think I should buy a KIA Spectra or a Rio, they are looking at a used KIA Spectra 2004 w/under 30,000 miles. Or maybe a new Rio since they are such great deals on them. But I was just hoping anyone out ther that has one or has one to let me know what they think about the car. Have you had lots of problems with the car? Anything that I should know about the car before buying? I hope someone can help me my parents really want me to buy it but I know nothing about them.

A: Kia is owned by Hyundai, but Hyundai is a much more reliable vehicle by comparison. The Kia is a terible vehicle, after working on some Kia's for our low priced lot I find them to be very low quality, and rather difficult to repair. If your parents are looking for low price, please steer them away from the Kia. Hyundai makes a better quality product with fewer repairs. Tell them to look at a good used Hyundai Tiburon or Elantra, they are very cheap used and very attractive cars. My girlfriend drives a 99 Elantra and it has been a very good car. I think you would be more satisfied with the Hyundai versus the Kia.

Q: If I have a car that I bought new in 2004, do I have to wait till I've paid it off to get a new car?
My car is a 2004 Kia Spectra. I bought it brand new. I want to buy a used toyota or another used car. I've been paying on the Kia for 2 years. I still have 3 more years to pay it off.

A: no you don't have to pay it off, you can trade anytime you like if you're willing to accept the deal the salesman offers. I suggest you go to kbb.com and check to see what the trade in value on your vehicle is. This will give you some idea of what the dealer will give you for it. Let's say you still owe $4000 on your car but it is only worth $3000 the dealer Will add that to the price of the car you want to buy. On the other hand if you owe $4000 and it is worth $5000 then you would have $1000 to deduct from the price of the other car.
