Q: How much is it going to cost to replace a broken axle on a 2006 kia sorento?
There several other things wrong with it because of the axle going out. Brakes...etc. jus a simple estimate its in the shop now but wont get fixed till monday thank you.
front end 4 wheel drive
A: You may not have to replace the entire thing. Brakes dont really have much to do with your axle and the internals. What exactlys wrong with the axle? There very pricey to replace, usually around the same price has head gaskets run (3000ish)
Q: I am trying to change the spark plugs on my 2006 Kia Sorento. I cannot find the spark plugs...can anyone help?
I know how to change the pluG I just can't find them.... Has anyone done this themselves? The dealer wants $400 to do it!!! PLEASE HELP ME!
A: fist off, take the big plastic cover off so you can see the bare motor. sometimes that piece can be intimidating so start with that. alof ot the newer cars have coil packs instead of the usual spark plug wires, they are usually black or gray. you should have six of them. 3 on the right and 3 on the left on top of the head, or on the side of it. sometimes they might have a bolt holding it on. take those off and remove the coil packs. they should be right there. book says 3 hours to do it, so i figured the dealers price is about right. good luck to you
Q: Does anyone know how to change the front passenger headlight on a 2006 Kia Sorento? Its' blocked by parts.
It's Placed in really awkward position making it hard to get to. I'm not sure what parts to remove or if I have to in order to get to it.
A: send me email address and i can send u the instructions

Q: 2006 Kia Sorento?
We bought our Sorento brand new about a year ago and we haven't had any problems with it (knock on wood) until now. It isn't a big problem but I notice a lot of times when I'm making a turn even if I'm going 5 miles an hour my tires will squeal as if I was making the turn going 50 miles an hour, any ideas what this could be? We've put about 22,000 miles on it, the tires look fine to me but I'm not a professional either so I'll take any help I can get.
I asked somebody at work the other night what they thought it could be and he told me that it sounds like the tires need to be rotated because if one side of the tire is worn down it will cause them to squeal, could this be the case or was he just pretending he knows what he's talking about?
A: I own a shop, and I think this; When we make a turn with a vehicle the angle on the wheel must change. A vehicle that is in need of a grease job will do this because the angle is hard to change due to it needing lubrication. If you ask around, you will find many vehicles in fact do this. The wheel must pivot on the ball joints, and if they are hard to move from lack of lubrication, you will see this problem. Another reason may be if you have a posi-traction type rear end, one wheel will want to not turn as fast as the other, and make a noise. When going through a turn one wheel travels a shorter distance than the outside wheel, thus it causes the inside wheel to hop, slide, and/or squeal until the wheels are equal within the turning radius, and turn the same speed. The only way to resolve this issue is to change the oil in the differential, and use an oil made for posi-traction differentials. This is a very common problem with any vehicle that is four wheel drive. It could be the brake pads are near being worn out, as they have a tap on one that is designed to squeal when they get worn to, or past the point of needing changed.
Part 2:
One side of the tire worn down? Wouldn't you be able to see that, or run your hand around the tire and feel it? In short, the person you work with has a point, but I think it would be rather obvious if the tire was worn down on one side, and not only that, it would pull to one side of the road if it were worn like that. Some people fail to listen to what you are telling them, and/or just don't know the answer, so they come up with their own to impress you. Go with experience where your vehicle is concerned. A lot of young technicians are smart, and have good ideas, but if its something they haven't seen before, they tend to answer questions that would be best left to someone who has seen the problem before. Anyone can answer the question, and sound like they know what they are talking about, but few can resolve the issue. Any issue with the steering certainly warrants having it checked out by a quallified mechanic. Not all mechanics are quallified, so finding one that is, can be tough sometimes. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and screen out the "want to be" mechanics. Some people are mechanics, while some are want to be mechanics who change parts until the problem is fixed. Search out a good front end mechanic, and have them check out the problem. They are the one's that are quallified to find a problem with the front end/steering, and resolve the issue.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
Q: Should we buy a 2007 Kia Sorento or a 2006 Chev. Trailblazer?
They are about the same price. Both have factory warranties left. Trailblazer has a 3rd row seat, Kia doesn't. Anyone have either that can share, or just have an opinion?
A: Well up until this past sat, I'd have sold you a mint 2007 sorento, we traded, for a lower payment and improved fuel economy. The sorento was a great, kinda no frills suv,but she didn't get much for milage.Good running and reliable as far as I saw. About 18-19 mpg. Trail blazers are about the same. With the recent fuel prices, the 18 month old sorento, with 13k miles on it traded for only 10K. So, if your decided on on, remember thats all the dealers are giving for them,so you ought to get one for about that or less. Don't be afraid of getting them down, they're not seeling and every ones trading them in for better gas millage. theres aton of them and they know it. As for a blazer, owed one, biggest pos chevy ever made. And I'm a GM guy. I'll never own one or recomend one ever again. Constant maintenance/expensive repairs. I'd drive a chevette before a blazer. remeber chevetts, or shov itts as we called them.
Q: Problem installing Alpine CDA9853 radio in 2006 Kia Sorento, appears to be working, just no sound! HELP!?
I have the wire harness hooked up and that appears to be connected properly. I've never done this before, but just matching same color wire to same color wire didn't seem that hard! The radio is getting power and appears to be working just fine except for no audio coming out, not even static. I was told the Alpine radio may need a security reset since it was removed from my last car, but I can't find any references for that online. HELP! I need my tunes!
A: Does your Kia have a power antenae?? If so check the Blue wire with the white stripe on the back of the stereo and make sure you have it connected to the power antenae lead on your car, these also commonly power factory amplifiers in some cars and you won't get any sound if there not hooked up.... However, if this is the case use the Remote lead from the deck to hook up to the power antenae so you get power to it for both Radio & CD.

Q: Kia Sorento...Is this a good price?
Hey
Hubby and I were in the market for a car today. We came across a brand new (last year's model 2006) Kia Sorenta. It is a standard transmission V6. Comes with the sport package (whatever that means) and they said they could sell it to us for 16,000 (sticker said 24,000$) is that a good price? We are very impressed with the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty and the safety features. Any advice is appreciated thanks!
A: Sounds like a great deal to me, I bought a 2006 Hyundai Azera in January and am in love with it. That sounds like a bargin price, I'm honestly jealous, maybe I should go down to the local Kia dealer and see if they have one like that for me! My car had a sticker of $31K and I paid $25K. Go for it!!
Q: is it legal to repo a car when the owner has been deceased only 3 weeks if the account is paid up for 2 months
My aunt was murdered may 12, 2008. she had a 2006 kia sorento in her name. we made the payment for may and june may 27. the account was current. it hasnt been an entire month yet so we havent been able to switch everthing over to our names including the car and the house. the car was repoed june 3 at 1:45 am.
A: Sorry about your Aunt.
When someone dies it is often reported to the major credit bureaus and many companies take immediate action to close accounts, cancel credit cards, and secure any outstanding collateral on loans. At the time of the Repo the car was in your aunt's name and they had good reason to believe that the outstanding balance on the loan would not be paid. If there is money in the estate to pay off the entire balance of the outstanding loan, you may be entitled to recover the car. You can't legally force them to transfer the loan to another party on the same terms and conditions as the original loan.
Q: Finances are overwhelming... What should we do?
Here's our situation -- My husband just joined the Army and I work outside of the home. We have a small child and the cost of daycare almost doesn't make it worth it for me to work.
Our bills total just over $3100 a month - $530 is ONE car payment alone. It is a 2006 Kia Sorento (yes, we're paying a lot thanks to rolling in other vehicles) it is at 6%.
We have already refinanced it to get to this payment. We have 5 years left! Thanks to a hit and run, it is SMASHED and won't start. Our insurance will cover with us paying the 1k deductible.
We simply can't afford this any longer. Would it be unwise to let it repo and finance a less expensive vehicle before it affects our credit?
We have A LOT of debt, but this car is just killing us. We've had finanical stress over the years, but this is now overwhelming.
Any suggestions?
A: If your husband is in the Army he has resources available to him for low percentage loans and also they offer financial counseling and other resources. The Army doesn't pay a lot, but they do offer some great benefits. Use them.
Q: I was involved in a Hit and Run.?
I do NOT have a license or insurance, my father was unable to drive me to school, and it's pointless to pay $40/month for bus service. So, I'm driving to school and a 2006 Kia Sorento pulls out of a neighborhood into the right lane. I am in the left lane. She is directly beside me, and she accelerates to get in front of me, so I speed up because I want to make the light. Her SUV rides a lot higher than my car, so I assume I was in her blind spot, so she must have thought I was behind her. So she moves to the left lane and hits my rear-right passenger door. She bounces back to the right lane and jumps the curb. I couldn't afford to have the police show up and arrest me (I already have 2 other parking tickets) so I flee the scene. Well somehow she catches up (I'm in a 1995 Taurus SHO [Fast car]) and gets my license plate numbers. Well, she called the cops and they came and wrote me a ticket (this making my 3rd) and the insurance company. We both have state farm. I get a call this morning saying there's a good chance she will file a civil suit against me, what should I do?
* She was not injured in any way.
My other two tickets were for parking in a fire lane (The line was only half way down the street) and driving without a license. I have a good feeling the insurance company is going to say it's my fault due to lack of evidence, and that I fled. I'm not going to jail, so that's out of the question. I think if the insurance company says it's not her fault, she won't sue me.
A: First of all, since you were driving with no license or insurance (how do you both have SF if you have no insurance?), her version will probably hold more credibility than yours. If she says you came over into her lane, and there is no one to verify your version - you are in trouble. you will be lucky if SF pays your claim if you are found at fault - which is a good possibility, because, logically, if the accident wasn't your fault, why would you run???
Q: What does a thermistor do that keeps my a/c from coming on now.
I have a 2006 kia sorento and the a/c has quit blowing cold air. the compressor is not coming on. I took it to the dealer and they say it is the THERMISTOR. could that be the problem?? What does the thermistor do that would keep the a/c from working?
So that thermistor could be broken causing the compressor to stay off.The mech say it is making the car think it is colder outside than it really is. What does it protect by keeping the a/c from coming on when its cold outside
A: my answer is try to check it out first on auto repair shop...dude
