Q: 2005 Kia Sorento LX-Remote keyless entry and side step bar problems?
Hello, The alarm keeps going off on my Sorento. I believe it is that my keyless remote entry needs a new battery. Where can I find one of those (12 V) and are they covered under Kia's warranty? Also, my side step bar is loose. I looked under the car to tighten the bolt but it is housed under something and I cannot get to it. Any suggestions about tightening the bar or if this is covered under the warranty? Thank you!

A: if your keyless remote battery is bad they will not change it under warranty but should change it none the less. as with your your side step that should be covered if you have a bumper to bumper warranty let them do the work good luck on both

Q: How do you remove factory radio from a 2005 Kia Sorento LX?


A: This is one that you can stare at all day. the trim pieces that include the air vents (usually woodgrain) will come off and expose the screws that hold the radio in. They are held in by spring clips, a gentle pry will get you started. Here is a website that shows how to remove one for a cell phone mount: http://www.bracketron.com/xmain/manuals/KIA-200-03.pdf You may have to take the climate controll screws out to get the radio out far enough to reach the plugs on the back. You should be able to figure out the rest. good luck, and be gentle.. the trim is getting cheaper and cheaper, and is really easy to break.

I got an FM Transmitter for my Zune player and it asks me to tune it to 106.4 I can't access that station. I can get to .5 and .6 but not .4 is there anyway to get to it? I've tried the "scan" option and the fine tune option as well.

A: Simple solution would be to return the transmitter you have and exchange it for one that matches the band on your radio.

Q: I have a 2005 Kia Sorento 5-apeed manual. RPM@70mph=3500. Normal?


A: If you are in 5th gear, then it sounds normal. You are usually supposed to switch gears from 2000-4000 rpm. If you switch gears after that, then the rpm at 70mph will be lower. If you switch gears before that, then the rpm at 70mph will be higher. 70mph is too fast in 5th gear unless you shift at higher rpm's which uses much more gas. Keep it at 60-65mph.

A: on all cars, same place. open driver's door. sticker has the VIN number on it. read the sticker. look for 'paint code' there it is!

My 2005 Kia sorento 5spd trans is great but the 18city 21highway could be helped. I know there are many products out there on the market that dont work or are just rediculious. I already have a K&N filter in my air box looking to widen the exhaust cat back to help with flow. Any other ideas or maybe that you have applied to your own sorento? Any advice would be great!!!

A: a k&n filter does help your fuel mileage, its not true that things that are for performance make you get less mpg, that is a myth cuz most people with high performance stuff drive fast and get less mpg.. so just watch your speed and keep your rpms low, an exhuast would help, but dont go too big, you might also try just a header and hiflo cat and maybe some lightweight engine pulleys and lightweight flywheel, also smaller and lighter rims will also help alot... less weight for the engine to move the better mpg you will get.. an suv is not good for that since they are heavy, so lighten it up, when you dont need your back seats take them out, stuff like that will help, but to get any major improvment you would have to go to extremes, like removing the whole interior and dash, things like that

I have a 2005 KIA Sorento and the head lights are not working, we checked the fuses and even put in new head lights and they still dont work ,.. does anyone have this problem or have you heard of it with the KIA's?

A: If you know how to use a voltmeter, check to see if there is voltage at the headlight sockets. If there is voltage at the headlight sockets, then you have a bad ground somewhere that is breaking the headlight circuit. If you have no voltage at the headlight socket, you either have a bad fuse, a bad switch or a bad connection. A 2005 Kia should still be covered under its warranty. Why not take it to a dealer and have it checked?
