Q: My 2004 Kia Sorento is leaking anitfreeze, Why?
I noticed the problem when my car was blowing cold air when I had the heat on... When I tried to fill it back up with anitfreeze I could hear it hitting the ground. The antifreeze in leaking behind the tire on the passenger side. Could it be the water pump or as simple as a hose?
A: Check the hoses, they do wear out. could a leaking/broken temp control valve, there usually in line with the heater core lines. I've seen heater control valves made of plastic : ( , plastics become brittle over time and break.
Q: What is the usual highway gas mileage for a 2004 Kia Sorento?
A: Here you go!
Q: 2004 Kia sorento clutch problem?
As I was driving my sorento home tonight, I pushed on the clutch and felt a thud feeling, then from that point on it became very hard to push on and it seems it will not completely disengage. I have a feeling that the throw-out bearing went through the pressure plate, but I do not know it has been years since I have done any real work on cars. Does anyone know what the issue is? Second if this is a typical sorento issue? Fianlly, if the 100,000 mile warrenty would fix it?
A: Sorry, sounds like you need a clutch kit. I seriously doubt this is covered under the 100k powertrain, well I can assure you it's not. Figure 700-800 for a quality clutch kit and resurfacing of the flywheel at a reputable repair facility.
Q: 2004 kia sorento?
I need a picture (not diagram) of the undercarrage of this vehicle. I put a center bearing on my driveshaft and I'm not sure it's right. Anyone have a link? (I can't find anything)
A: go to the library, its free and you can print off the pages you need

Q: Kia Sorento 2004-2005 model?? Transmission "clank".....?
Does anyone have a Kia Sorento? I have one and when I shift the auto trans. into R or D it is making a rather loud "clank" type noise.... is that just something this particular manufacturers vehicles do..??? or should I have it checked out?
A: Yes, take it to the junkyard...you'll find tha last don's brain in the back of a 2006 Chevy Silverado that had to be pushed there!_!
To answer your question, damn right you better have that issue checked out today! That type of sound is not typical of any vehicle that is functioning correctly. You better call a transmission place or the dealer before you drive again.
Q: KIA SORENTO. please? your personal experiences & opinions are greatly appreciated?
my hubby and i are interested in buying a 2004-2005 model KIA SORENTO for our first "family car".
I was just wondering if people could let me in on personal experiences with these 4wd's
are they reliable? safe and just generally a good car or should i look around for something else???
A: Reliable, yes, Safe, yes, Popular, yes, Family Car, yes, Good used car, yes. The fact that they depreciate fast is in your favor since you are buying a 3 year old model for about 1/2 the new price. If you do your due diligence and have an independent mechanic throughly inspect the vehicle prior to purchase I'm sure you will be very happy to take the Sorento home with you if it checks out...you should do this with any used car you want to purchase that isn't one of the certified pre-owned models.
Q: Antifreeze got poured in my oil,is not alot but is that gonna hurt anything?
maybe 1 tsp of antifreeze was poured in my oil on a 2004 Kia Sorento
A: you will be OK with that little amount of antifreeze, it won't hurt anything.
Q: Kia owners, asking about Sportage and Sorento?
Hi everyone, I am going to be a driver soon, and my parents and I were maybe considering a 2003-2004 Sportage or Sorento. Are these two models very good? I am looking for a safe, good, reliable car that I can enjoy driving point a to point b. Thanks for your input!
A: NO. do not get a kia, especially not a Kia Sportage. I have a Kia sportage and it was the worst decision I ever made to buy the car. It has broken down multiple times and has had many problems with the brakes, my spark plugs melted etc. many problems. I am trying to get it off my hands now. They call kia's throw away cars after 5 years because you can't do anything with them after 5 years. If you need something cheap try scion, hyundai like someone else said, or honda.
Q: Where can I sell an engine (V6) ???
Engine from a 2004 KIA Sorento V6... I want to sell the engine and any parts that are worth something but I do NOT wanna end up with the hollow frame sitting in my yard. Wanna buy it?? Hit me up....
PARTS ONLY.. NO TITLE
A: put a ad in the paper or on ebay, then if anything is left, ring a scrap metal merchant and sell the rest to them. they can pick up and sometimes pay you the scap value of whats left.
if you just want to be rid of it then take it to a wrecker and ask how much and leave it there.
Q: A car accident-my friend?
My friend was in a car Accident on 3-8-07 and her car was being fixed since then. How long could it take to get it fixed? It was a 2004 Kia Sorento EX.A black one.
A: 3 months--never.. body shops will keep them forever if they have no incentive to get them out..
go to the shop and ask twice a week. how is the job going?
Q: vibration when braking downhill?
I own Kia Sorento year 2004, when I am braking downhill I always feel this heavy vibration on my front wheels, can someone explain.
I don´t have brake fluid leaks, the cv joint´s ok, the breaking pads are ok, the brake disk is ok too.
I´ll appreciate your comments.
If this were to be the case am I in inmediate risk of brake failure?
I mean the problem with the warped rotor; and whqt exactly do you mean by warped?
A: I'm going to suggest you have a slightly warped brake rotor. I realize you said the brake disk is OK, but didn't indicate if you checked it for run-out on the brake lathe or if it is simply still within it's wear specification.
Note that under normal braking conditions not all of the brakes apply with the same force. Tilt angle of the vehicle along with weight distribution and 'sticky calipers' all play a role in the stopping force applied at each wheel.
For example the brake with the warped rotor may only handle a small percentage of the total braking force during normal conditions on level ground - not enough for you to notice any vibration - but when braking on a downhill the braking force applied at that wheel may go up considerably where it becomes very noticeable.
other possibilities include severely worn ball joints and it just gets worse (read as more expensive) from there so I'd get those rotors turned first.
Good Luck

Q: Coolant Reservoir Problem?
I have a Kia Sorento 2004. Recently, I found out that coolant is leaking, especially in cold mornings and nights. If weather is warm, I can't see any coolant drop on the ground where my car is parked. I went to my car dealer and received a report which shows me I need to replace coolant reservoir because it is cracked. Okay. if coolant reservoir is cracked, it is true that coolant can be leaking from reservoir. However, I do not understand why coolant is not leaking all the time although reservoir is cracked. My car dealer just explained to me about this question with saying pressure stuff. According to my car dealer, pressure can hold the cracked part of reservoir sometimes, so coolant is not leaking all the time. Again, this is very funny because coolant is dripping in cold weather. I thought hoses and bolts became loosen, but my car dealer said that coolant reservoir is the problem. So, I have to replace it.
I wonder what I need to do: accept my car dealer's opinion & replace coolant reservoir? or search for another reason of this problem?
WOW!!! I think my Kia Sorento is a must buy car in the market because I have to replace coolant reservoir just right after 60,000 mileage while my 12 year old Toyota Camry has not yet replaced its coolant reservoir. Thank you Kia.
A: The purpose of your coolant reservoir.
When you first start up your car the engine and radiator are cut off from the coolant reservoir. As the engine heats up so does the coolant, the coolant expands. There is a one way valve that allows that expanding coolant to leave into the reservoir.
During the night the coolant in the engine cools down and contracts, then there is another valve that allows the coolant to be drawn into the engine from the reservoir.
Depending on the temperature outside and where the crack is in the reservoir, it can leak at different times. But that cycling of heat and cool is why it is not leaking all the time.
From what you describe I would say you should let them replace it, I don't think they are trying to jip you. Or, it is something easy enough to do on your own if you are mechanically inclined...
Good luck
Q: What is wrong with my car?
I drive a Kia Sorento (2004) and 2 days ago my left blinker messed up. When the headlights are on the blinker wont shut off, it doesnt blink it just stays on and on the inside the green arrow in the dash is light up and wont shut off. How do I fix this, my husband is deployed and it is driving me crazy. Any ideas? If i could I would like to do it myself to save money. THanks
I bought it used, warranty is out, so tell me how to fix it?
the left front and left back light both stay light up
A: isn't it still under warrenty????? i thought the car came with a 10 year package????
Q: Crack on front window glass in car ?
My mom bought a Kia Sorento SUV type from auto dealer back in 2004, it's still under the warranty I believe . Couple week ago, she said to me that there is a small crack on the front window glass . The crack is like when you have a hot glass and put it in cold water right away and they produce a nice cut on the glass .
That was couple week ago, a small about 1 inch crack, now it is like a 20 inch something o_O . This car never have any accident whatsoever and only around 17k-ish miles yet this stuff happen . I don't want to paid this out of our pocket since this isn't even our fault, it's should be the manufacturer fault for making cheap glass . I got a Mazda 6 sedan and I drive more than her car yet still everything is good, even if my car got hit by a rock, the glass still solid unlike her car a tiny rock can damage it too.
Does the auto dealer warranty cover these cost or are they gonna said no ?
This crack appear out of nowhere and no evident that it even got hit at that spot.
A: See if Kia will replace it as a manufacturing defect. If not, file a claim with your insurance company. Many will replace at little or no charge to you.
Do get it attended to ASAP, as the windshield is an integral part of the safety system of the vehicle. In a frontal collision, the passenger airbag, when inflated, is supported by the windshield. It also increases the strength of the "A" pillars in a roll-over.
