A: thats from water in your oil causes the oil to turn a whitish color. thats from blown headgasket. antifreeze leak is from blown headgasket.

A: Get a Chilton manual from an Auto Part store and read through it in case you need a special tool (like 1994 Pontiac Gran Prix rear brakes needs a special tool to "screw in" the piston back). If your friends have done it in the past, is pretty much like any brake job and most likely have the tools. Is not rocket science. Get a quote from a brake specialist. See how much will be to get the rotors and pads on the store. Now determine how much you will save and if is worth it, go for it. If not... someone can do the job.

My bf and i just purchased a 2003 kia Sorento, A week ago and this evening when i went to get dinner the check engine light just went on and when my bf was going to work it still stayed on. Anyone know what it might be or if you have a Kia Sorento What are some problems you have had? Is it a good car?

A: Sorry to hear you bought that van. The check engine light could be hundred of things from minor to major. I would take it to a shop tomorrow and pay to have it diagnosed, this is usually an hours labor.
Q: Keyless Entry Installation in 2003 Kia Sorento? Please Help!?

My 2003 Kia Sorento came without the Keyless Entry option, and we have decided that we would like to install one.
Best Buy offers a Viper Keyless Entry System for $140 (Basic Installation Included)... but I found a hardware store that sells another aftermarket Keyless Entry kit that you can install yourself for much cheaper.
I've never done this, nor do I know how it is done. Has anyone done this? Anyone have any advice or directions on how I can do it myself?
Any advice would be very appreciated!

A: I would recommend that you go with best buy unless you are good at following very general directions.
A basic key less entry requires splicing into the existing lock system,
if there is also an alarm you will need to splice into the lighting system, this is used to trigger the alarm when the door releases the button that turns the lights on.
If the system also has a remote starter then is get terribly complicated.

A: lower part of the vehicle - near the transmission - might be tucked under the intake manifold so you will have to do it under the car...

They are asking $14,500, but said they would let it go for $13,500...

A: Kia, which is owned by Hyundai, has improved its quality at the same rate as Hyundai is now rated better than all US manufacturers, and on a par with Toyota and Honda in quality.
Plus Kia comes with a factory 5 yr, 100K mile warranty. It will probably expire in the next year or so. Also, Kia Sorentos look great (like a Lexus RX300), but they are very gas-thirsty.
On www.kbb.com, an LX with 2WD with 29K miles should retail for $12,750
An EX with 4WD with 29K miles should retail for $14,575.
So depending on model, your price should be somewhere in that range. Your price looks about right.
Q: what could b the problem with my 2003 kia sorento, if makes a noise when i have the heater on, still has heat?
A: If it's a rattling / whirring noise that comes and goes I've got an idea.
There is a blower that circulates the air (hot or cold) that is in the cabin of the car. It looks like a sideways hamster wheel and the middle post goes to a motor called the blower motor. The hamster wheel is called a squirrel cage (no, really, I'm not kidding). Sometimes the middle of the squirrel cage, where it fits on the turning post for the blower motor gets stripped. This is what can cause the noise. The one for my Honda was under the passenger side dash in front of the bottom edge of the glove box.
If it's that, they come out with about 3 phillips head screws if I remember. A new one would have cost me around $100, but I got a used one at a junk yard for about $42 and reinstalled it myself. Good to go!

A: I've always known those things to be dealer only parts. Unless you get lucky and salvage one of them from the junkyard. G'luck on that one.

A: These vehicle are prone to rusting in the A/C lines and heater core problems, plus fluid leaks and other bad things. Get rid of it and get something more reliable and better on gas.

I just had my flex tube replaced. My kia is automatic and when it shifts from 1st -2nd and 2nd to 3rd the engine winds up and its really loud(engine). Once in a great while it smells like sulfer so im thinking that may be the cat but im not sure if thats why it gets loud. It is a v6 and sometimes the check engine light pops on but it only stays on for a matter of seconds? Help!

When I'm cruising at around 45 - 55 mph and let off the gas to coast the transmission jerks VERY noticably. VERY annoying. The dealer says nothings wrong, probably because its still under warranty, but I know better. It even does it when the cruise control is on. It's so bad that friends say "What was that?" Please help
A: Go to different Kia dealer and explained it's not so saftey to your child and it's warranty, tell him to get you a new one, if they can't, call your insurance provider and let them fix for you, a little money you spend now will make huge difference.

A: Buy the Saturn. Kia's have gotten much better but they had a long way to go especially the older ones.
