Q: White Smoke Coming From The Exhaust Of My 1997 Kia Sephia After Two New Head Gaskets?
We bought a 1997 Kia Sephia RS last year. It has recently been blowing white smoke from the exhaust pipes..which we obviously thought was either the valve seals or a blown head gasket. We have replaced both of these things and yet the smoke keeps coming out...but only when you get on the gas. What else could be the problem?
A: This depends on whether or not you see smoke on deceleration, acceleration, or just all the time. Since you didn't state whether or not you did a compression test, then i can't give u the best answer that i can. You should check your valve overlap, valve seats once again....compression test would tell you this....Since you also said WHITE smoke and not BLUE smoke then it obviously just can't be oil. Did you smell your exhaust for an oil smell? you could have severe blow-by.....Oh....um a compression test will also tell you if this is the case. Check your air and fuel mixture, you could be running too rich on fuel. But you didn't state enough information for me to give a best answer. Re-post this with more information and i will answer again.
Q: How can i tell which engine my 1997 kia sephia has ?
A: in your manaual or look at the engine.
Q: how do you set the timing on 1997 kia sephia with a 1.8 dohc?
A: You cant, it's not adjustable.
It has a distibutorless ignition system.
If the timing is wrong then the timing belt has slipped or its installed improperly.
Q: My 97 Kia Sephia has full power but won't turn over.?
I have a 1997 Kia Sephia that all of a sudden won't start. The battery is fine as i have full power ( lights-not dim or anything, radio, wipers, ect), but when i turn the key all i get is a few clicks. One comes from the fuel pump, one comes from the area where the alternator is, and one comes from the fuse box located under the hood near the battery. It acted up this morning but eventually started. I tried to start it after work for about an hour and ended up having to bum a ride. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
A: I'm guessing that either your starter is probably junk or your alternator might be bad. I can't drive yet but i do know a little about cars. Good Luck.
Q: what would be a better buy? kia sephia or pontiac grand am?
1997 kia with 63,000 miles or 1998 grand am with 88,000 miles?????????????
both around $ 2650
A: Check out the cars at kbb.com to see what they're worth.
See that the private party, and trade-in values for each car. I tried to do this for you, but you need to know the trim line and options on each car. My guesses are documented below.
Based on my assumptions below, and all things being equal, the Grand Am appears to be a better deal.
A good deal is where you're close to the trade-in value.
1997 Kia Sephia LS Sedan 4D with 63,000 miles, 1.8L and automatic transmission has a private party value of $1975 in "good" condition. Trade-in is $1365.
1997 Kia Sephia LS Sedan 4D with 88,000 miles, 2.4L and automatic transmission has a private party value of $3110 in "good" condition. Trade in is $1900.
Note: These values will change depending on your zip code, engine size, transmission, trim line, 2 vs. 4 door, and options on each vehicle.

1997 Kia sephia
A: Well there are 5 or 6 of them to hold on the valve cover so get one of the other ones. They will be the same size.
Q: wheres a good place to get valve cover bolts from?
1997 kia sephia
I called the dealership they said they didnt have none.
A: Auto parts store or salvage yard.
Q: How to get RPM on a car?
So on my dash my car doesnt have a spot where it says my RPM (1997 Kia Sephia) ... and i was wondering if there was someway if i brought it somewhere if i could have it to wear i could see my RPM while driving...
A: yeah not to be a dick, but i dont expect you'll be doing any high rpm driving in a Kia and unless it has a standard tranny you really don't need one
Q: How much horsepower does a 1997 Explorer have?
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer with a 4.0 V6 SOHC engine and I was wondering how much horsepower ans torque it has. And I also have a 1998 Kia Sephia with a 1.6 VTEC engine and I also want to know how much horsepower and torque it has. I'm guessing it has aroung 100 and the Explorer has maybe 150 or 170 horses.
A: You can check www.edmunds.com. My GF had a 1996 4.0 liter with 160HP. However the next year Ford upgraded that engine to 205HP/245LbFt in 1997.
Q: Check engine help???????????????????
I honestly need some help. I have a 1997 kia sephia. Got it around 2 months ago used of course. We knew that the belt needed to be replaced (Timing belt). Got that fixed and got everything checked. Found out they needed to tighten it later on. Took it in to get that done. Now the check engine suddenly came on. Got that checked they found the reason got the parts and fixed it atleast thats what they said. Got it back yesterday and today went driving check engine light went on again. No squeaky sound just check engine light on. What could be a possible reason the check engine light would be on? Just dished out $300.00 thinking that it was all fixed now it isnt. I talked to one of my family members aND THEY SAID TAKE IT BACK TO THE SHOP. i JUST DON'T WNAT THEM TO KEEP SAYING OH WAIT IT WAS THIS AND THEN LATER FIND OUT IT WASN'T WOULD LOVE TO HEAR SOME ANSWERS. THANKS (sorry about the caps)
A: There are about 50 different things (at least) in a car that can cause that light to come on. Call around to some local auto parts stores or repair shops to see who can read your error code for free and give you an idea of what could be wrong. If it is related to what you've already had worked on & repaired, then you should take it back to them and demand that they fix it correctly and for free. If you can, take a friend along that knows a little about cars to back you up and at least offer a little support for you to get your car repaired correctly and without charge.
Best of luck.
Q: where can I find this?
I have recently bought a used car. It's a 1997 kia sephia.. I found out right after I bought the car the visor became loose and I have tried to super glue it but it just wont stay on. Should I buy a new set of visors, or should I take it to a place to see if they can put it back together? Also if I were to buy a new visor where would be the best place to find them. I have checked the internet and no luck finding any. Looking forward to some responses. Thanks!
A: you can find a kit to reattach that metal piece to the windshield at most part stores. it just takes patience.
Q: Help with a jerking transmission?
I am driving a 1997 Kia Sephia.
I don't know much about cars, I'm not that kind of guy. Personally, I wish I lived in a place where I didn't need one, all cars do is break down and cost money.
My car has always ran pretty well but recently I moved to a place where I have a larger comute. The check engine light came on today, and my car tends to jerk sometimes around 45 mph or so. It doesn't do it every time, and if I slow down and try again, or boost past that gear range, it usally stops. It hasn't stalled out or anyhting yet.
I have two main questions.
1. I'm only guessing that it is my transmission, is it? And if so, how likely is it that changing the fluid will fix the problem? How much does this usally cost?
2. There is no way I can possibly afford to have anything done to it before the friday after this one coming up. I have to have my car. Do I stand a chance at it not breaking down on me before then?
Thank you.
I really like that second answer... But if that guy is right than why is the thing jerking?? And why only at around that speed??
A: a check engine is not trans related at all. easy fix go to auto zone or advance auto for free check-up, if replacement part is to expensive ,then go to junk yard. most likely it is a sensor, which can be cleaned, or u may just need new plugs or wires. you should easily make it to payday.
Q: Which is a better car to buy??
This will be my first time buying a car. Which car should i get that is more dependent and just an overall good car.
2000 Kia Sephia
1999 Kia Sportage
1998 Ford Escort SE
1997 Ford taurus GL Sedan
All of these cars are used and are in good condition.
A: Out of those 4, go with the Taurus. I wouldn't trust a Kia....especially one that is nearly 10 years old.
Q: Top Speed of Stock Cars?
Does anyone know a website or something that tell you the estimated top speed of a car that is completely stock(no modifications)? I have a 1998 Kia Sephia with the 1.6 engine, and a 1997 Ford Explorer with the 4.0 engine, what are their estimated top speeds? thanks.
A: 105 mph for the KIA
115 For Explorer on flat terrain.
Not that I have ever did test on the used cars at the car lot.
