Needing to reset the timing on 1998 KIA SEPHIA, just replaced the belt and can't reset it.

Q: How to replace catalytic converter on 1999 Kia Sephia?
I think the catalytic converter on my '99 Kia Sephia is bad. I've looked on the internet for replacements, but there seems to be several parts to the converter....front, rear, etc. How do I know which one I need, or do I need all of them? How difficult is it to do this job myself? After doing a little more research, it looks like it's probably the O2 sensor causing the problem. However, it looks like there is more than one of those as well. Any suggestions on which one it could be or how to tell? The sensor looks like an inexpensive part.

A: Take It to a shop near you that specializes In driveability or computer diagnostics, with a scanner attached to your cars computer, both converters can be checked and then and only can you determine which one Is bad If either, may be something else causing your problem, spend a little now to have it checked instead of guessing that could get expensive. remember look for ASE Certified Auto Technicians these are the most experienced and will find your problem quick In turn saving you money. Good Luck

Q: Where is the speed sensor located on my 1999 kia sephia?
My o/d light has been flashing for a while and after researching on kia-forums I found that a common reason this happens is because the speed sensor goes bad. I am going to order mine tomorrow, but I was wondering where on the tranny is it located so I know when I go to install it. Also, I know Kia's aren't the greatest. I am holding onto this for a while until everything is fixed then I am selling it off for something better. Please someone find for me where the speed sensor is located. Doug, I am a member of the streetkiaz forums. I forgot about that place though. Thanks for posting a thread, and I will just check the thread there for the answer. In the meanwhile, I'll give you the best answer and thumbs up or however the rating system on here works. Thanks bro.

A: Hang on a sec and I will check my Kia forum and I will update this answer when I find out. http://www.streetkiaz.com/ I love my little Kia and will be shoving a 250hp V6 under the hood of my Rio when the warranty runs out. *update* Still waiting, but it is late, so it might have to wait until tomorrow when more of the guys are awake. *update* Welcome to the dark side of Kia!

Q: Where is the starter located on my 99 kia sephia?
My starter went bad on my 99 sephia. I know that it is near the beginning of the exhaust system, but if anyone has a diagram or anything of exactly where it's at I would appreciate it a lot. Also, how is this part attached (bolts, etc.) ?

A: Hi Here is a forum you will be able to get your answer there I bet. http://www.kia-forums.com/ http://www.automotiveforums.com/f30-sephia.html #174

Q: anyone have a kia sephia and like it?
I might just get a kia sephia with 75,000 miles on it bc they're dirt cheap is that a bad idea? Better that then a neon I guess.

A: Yeah, it is a good car. The Kia Sephia used the Mazda Protege Chassis, which made it handle better than most cars in its class and make it very fun to drive. I am talking about the 96-98 model. Not sure about the other years. Reliability is average. Mechanical stuff usually is okay, but quality is bad. Interior scratches easily or brakes as it gets older. I would still buy one.

Q: how much is the repairing kia sephia blown head gasket?
I think my crap Kia Sephia has blown head gasket. ll take it to the dealer tomorrow. I need to know how much is it going to cost me to fix it. Thank you

A: If im not mistaken the head gasket is partof the motor..isnt that covered by your warranty? Anyway its a Kia..its will prolly cost more to fix it then what you paid for it.

Q: How do you change the pressure sensor for the fuel tank of a 1999 kia sephia?
I need to change the pressure sensor on my fuel tank. Wondering if I have to drop the tank.

A: More than likely as that will be on the top of the tank. Have you pulled the back seat bottom cushion to see if there is an access panel???

Q: How do you change oil in 2000 Kia Sephia?
Tired of paying to take it to quick oil change place. I figured it's cheaper and easy to do myself, just not sure what is needed. Do I need jacks and jackstands? Where is the oil filter? What do I do with the old oil?

A: take it to super lube, they will do it right, cheaply and in between oil changes they will top off your fluids and check everything anytime for free.super lube will change your filter and keep your old oil and grease your chassis. even if you change yer oil you aint gonna grease yer front end. why not let the pros do it?

Q: How do I remove the passenger side axle from a 2000 Kia Sephia?
I am replacing the entire axle because of a bad CV joint... can anyone help please? I have searched online and I can't even find an owners manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks a million!

A: This is not that hard of a job. Jack up the car and support by the frame. Remove the wheel and brake caliper. Before taking off the caliper straighten the bent end of the nut out and loosen the nut or remove it. I can not remember if i took the top joint or the lower ball joint loose. Then had to pry and pull at the cv joint to get it to pop loose. I did not loose any fluid. The one i did was an auto. I do not remember the year but autozone only had 28 spline shafts and the sephia i worked on (the last year) has 30 or 31 splines. Had to go to someone that does foreign cars to get the right shaft. south side of atlanta was williams import autoparts that were very helpful. Took a little bit to pop the shaft back in and put together. Make sure you tighten the nut at the hub tight. If not at speck it will back off and ruin the hub assembly. They should like others have stayed with a castle nut and pin but this way is cheaper and easier for production. Look and you will find a kia site on line with lots of help from a forum wherepeople with these cars know a bit and may not have to get a book. I think the shaft was about 80 bucks. rd

Q: 2000 Kia Sephia headlights sometimes do not work?
The flashers work, fog lights, just not the head lights or even if I turn them to bright. The flashers work though. The lights do work sometime. What could be the problem and how could I fix the problem. thank you for your help.

A: Sounds like the headlight relay is the most likely problem. There could also be some bad wiring. I have had a car in which if it was damp out, the radio wouldn't work and it was just loose wiring. I believe there is a tool available to check the relays.

Q: Has anyone ever had problems with the fuel system for a 1999 kia sephia?
When ever I go to crank the car after it has been sitting for a while it cuts right back off, but after it has been running for a while it cranks right up if I turn off the car. I changed the fuel pump (which cost $350) and it wasn't the problem. I also changed the fuel purge valve and that didn't work. I'm beginning to run out of options. Does anyone have an idea of what this problem might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: Vapor lock? Starts fine hot or cold... Only thing I can think is you are pressing gas pedal to start car. DON"t as the flooding maybe causing your problem. Hard one but I'll stick to gas pedal theory(Any properly tuned vehicle- especially those with new fangled computer controlled inputs/sensors should be started pedal free(unless stepping on BRAKE pedal which is required nowadays). Did I win? Go try it and give me 10 points if it's cured!

Q: how do I take a battery out of a 2000 Kia Sephia?
I need to take the battery out of the car. I have loosened the charging ports but the battery will still not come out. Can you give detail.

A: On that car as with most nowdays, the battery is actually bolted in. There should be a piece of metal running directly over the battery. If you look down beside the battery along that piece of metal you will see a small block of plastic held in with a small bolt. You must remove that block to remove the battery. And if I remember that car correctly (my ex used to own one) it is a pain because there isn't much room around the battery.

Q: Why does my 1994 car Kia Sephia spend too many fule?
