Q: What would cause rear wheel(s) on an 2004 Kia Sedona to lock-up when parked?
The rear wheels (or at least most definitely the driver's side rear wheel) on our 2004 Kia Sedona seem to be locked-up. When either in drive or reverse, the front wheels move the vehicle, but the rear wheels seem to not roll. I'm saying that it might just be the rear driver's side wheel because the van will move a yard or two, but that particular wheel has left a heavy tire skid on our driveway. The passenger side seems to leave a skid as well, but not as heavy.
The last time the van was operating properly was last night, when I drove it home in a heavy monsoon downpour. I went through a few deep puddles, but didn't bottom-out or anything.
Suggestions?
A: Brake on?
Q: Is a 2004 Kia Sedona mini vans driver seat suppose to break in a car wreck if rear ended?
I was rear ended and my seat broke, I was not able to see were I was going, reach my steering wheel, nor reach my breaks. I have been told no they are not to break and I have been told yes they are for safety reasons. I have to see a back specialist because T8 and T11 are fractured.
A: LOL sorry but your story made me laugh.
Q: How do I replace the 2004 kia sedona cabin air filter?
It's not in the owner's manual.
A: Dont listen to people who say oh its only 2004, its new, you dont need to, your filter life depends on the air quality in your area, but a year, or 12,000 to 15,000 miles, typically is the recommended replacement interval.
A cabin air filter may be in the outside air intake, visible with the hood up and perhaps a cover lifted. Or it will be under the dash in one or both of two general locations:
• Above the blower in the back section of the outside air intake, a location well protected from moisture.
• Between the blower and the rest of the HVAC case.
If the owner's manual doesn't tell you the location, and you can't see it with the hood open, check behind the glovebox--perhaps you'll see an obviously removable (with a spring-tab or similar retainer) rectangular plastic cover. Next, look under the dash (on both the driver's and passenger's sides) for a removable plastic cover in the HVAC case. If you can remove its cover, look inside the HVAC case.
Still no answer? Buy the filters, something you have to do anyway. You've got two choices:
• Buy the factory filters at the dealership at full price. This way, you'll know for sure what they look like and get some idea about how they have to be installed. You'll also find out how many your vehicle has. The parts department should have a diagram to show you where the filters are located in the car.
• Buy aftermarket filters that come with step-by-step instructions from an auto parts store. The odds of the original equipment parts coming with instructions are extremely slim. Do all aftermarket filters have them? No, but if you're shopping at a parts store, you should be able to check in the boxes on the shelves. Also, these parts probably will cost less.
Replacing The Filters In The Air Intake
The filter in the outside air intake (even if there are other filters) takes care of most of the dust and pollen, so it's likely to plug first.
The typical procedure begins with removing the air intake screen, which is held by "Christmas tree" plastic fasteners. If the "tree" has a center pin, pry it up with a thin-blade screwdriver and then wiggle the tree out of the hole. If the tree is a single-piece design, you'll have to pry it out. Most of the time, it will break and you'll have to replace it (blister packs of replacements are sold in most auto parts stores).
If there's a rain/snow deflector over the filter, remove it, then extract the element. The filter element may be held by a plastic tab, or it may slip into a retainer housing that you will reuse with the new element. Some dust may have gotten around or through the filter. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the outside air intake duct. Be careful when you reinstall the air intake screen, as well as any cover over the filter element. If the gasket surface around the screen does not seal, or if the cover (actually a shield, in most cases) is not reinstalled, rainwater can flow into the filter, saturating it.
In The Case, Above The Blower
If the filter is in the case above the blower, most likely it is behind the glovebox. Removing the glovebox may be easy, but you may not have to remove it at all.
Many filters (such as on most Hondas and Toyotas) are just above the blower behind the glovebox, and you'll have to drop it for access. In the best of cases, you can flex the sides of the box so the pins clear the dash, then pivot the box down for clearance. In others, the entire glovebox assembly has to come out, which means removing a number of retaining screws, not all of which are visible.
The cabin filter is a type of air filter that in some respects--such as pleating to provide a lot of surface area in a small package--may resemble an engine air filter. However, it usually is made of different materials, the main one being a charcoal layer in many elements. Like some engine air filters, the dust and pollen filtering element is electrostatically charged, which means it's made with fiber particles that have been given either a positive or negative static electrical charge. Airborne particles are negatively or positively charged, so they are attracted to the opposite-charge fibers.
In addition, the filter performs "mechanical filtration." This means that fiber material with pores of a specific size will trap particles larger than the size of the pores. The charcoal filtration layer removes odors.
The charcoal is "activated," which means it is treated with chemicals and heat to give it specific odor-control properties. Each manufacturer has its own recipe, based on tests with individuals who have "sensitive noses," including people who work as perfume testers. Charcoal traps odor-causing gases by adsorption (not absorption), holding them on the surface of the material. Because charcoal is porous, each pore is an exposed surface, so the filter has a very high capacity for trapping noxious gases.
Q: Question regarding 2004 Kia Sedona?
My Aunt and Uncle have a 2004 Kia Sedona Mini-Van. It's been well serviced, regular oil changes, tires, the whole shebang, and it's only got 33k miles. They've had an on-going problem since they've bought the car.
Whenever it rains, the car makes...(the best way to put it) a squealing/whining noise. They've taken the car to the dealership like six times and they can't tell them what's wrong.
Do any of you have any idea of what it could be?
A: my answer is try to check it out first on auto repair shop..

We have no info on make of the DVD player-the model# of car is 6222,is a '04 Sedona LX. Can anyone give me a site that may help? Thanks... K.
A: You need to find out the maker of the video system and then you can go to your local radio shack and get headsets. Th remote is easy enough most universals will work. Good luck!

Q: Kia Sedona Power window Problems?
2004 Kia sedona. Passenger side front window rolls up and down just fine most of the time, but if you stop while going up or down, the window will be "stuck". If you push down on the window, it fixes this problem. I greased the track but still have the problem.
It seems like there is alot of play in the window regulator, is there an adjustment for this? I kinda feel like the regulator and motor gears are "binding" up and when you push on the window it "un binds".
Could it just be a weak window motor? or could the gear on the motor be worn out causing the play?
A: It is not covered under a warranty; you need to have the motor replaced. I just had the exact same problem on an '05.
Q: I need to know the part number for a Kia sedona 2.9 turbo diesel starter motor, 2004 54 plate.?

A: is it not on the old one? take it to the main dealership i am sure they could help
Q: Honda Odyssey or Kia Sedona, and why?
We are in the process of buying a used mini van. We have 4 sons, 3 who are still in carseats. We need to have easy access to the far rear seats as well as the middle seats. I like the 1999+ body style of the Honda Odyssey. It is much bigger than the 1998-. I have a few friends with an Odyssey, and they love it. What are the pro's and con's of both vehicles? From what I have noticed, we can purchase a Kia Sedona 2000-2004 for the same price as an older Odyssey. Is that b/c they arent as good? I really need help with making the safest decision for my family. Any suggestions? We have very large Britax carseats- anyone else use these carseats in either minivan? Do they fit well? Do your children have ample leg room etc?
A: Ive been in both, and I have to say the Odyssey was much more spacious and luxurious than the Sedona. I would prefer a newer Odyssey, since the 2005 style change boosted the Odyssey even further ahead of its competitors. I cant see why any kind of moron/idiot would buy a Toyota Sienna, when the better Odyssey costs less, but that has nothing to do with a Kia Sedona. See if you can get a 2005 Odyssey for cheap off of www.cars.com www.autotrader.com or eBay
The cheapest 2005 Odyssey was about $18000 on Cars.com and 17000 on Ebay Motors
Q: what are some good economical SUV's for a family of four?
My wife and I are looking to transition out of a deteriorating 2004 Kia Sedona into a new(er) SUV, but we don't have a lot of cash to spend. We need something sturdy that can carry two adults, two kids, and a dog, but that won't tie up the wallet too badly. Any ideas?
A: Ford Escape, or even a small wagon like the Pontiac Vibe. jeep Patriot or Compass.
Q: 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan SE SPORT vs 2006 Kia Sedona (or Nissan Quest) - What would you do?
Here is my dilema - My husband and I just had our first baby Christmas Eve. We decided that I would be a stay at home mom, so we've gone from 2 incomes down to 1 (so we're on a tight budget). We currently have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder (owe $9500 on it still), a 2001 Dodge Neon, and a 1993 Pathfinder that we want to sell.
We've found a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport for $12000, and a 2006 Kia Sedona for $17000 (both low miles) (Also found a Nissan Quest 2004 for $17000.
- Hoping to get $6000 after paying off Pathfinder on trade in.
We would only need to finance 8k on the Dodge (lower our current monthly payment & allow us to replace husbands car with a truck sooner)
We would need to finance about $13k on the Kia, with about the same payments as now.
We would need to finance about $14k with the Nissan.
I think the Kia has better safety features, and I love the fact that the sliding door windows open.
My question to you - what would you do and why??
A: id go with the Nissan because some of the KIA.s are giving problems, and Nissan has always made and sold a good vehicle,it sounds more like a good choice for what you wanting to do,good luck with it.
Q: MPV - Kia Sedona advice?
I need a 7 seater with good room and bootspace, after looking around like the Kia Sedona. was thinking of a 2000-2004 model. Do you have any experince with these? How reliable are they, costly to run etc etc. We want the automatic version. Thanks for any thoughts!
A: Steer well clear! People look to the Sedona because it's cheaper than most other 7 seaters, there's a reason for that, it's OK when it's new, but very quickly they just fall to bits, trim is of very poor quality and spares are astronomical (thats how they make their money).
I don't normally plug french cars, but there is little than an Espace. They sell so well because they're good!
The other one to look at is the Chrysler Voyager, big, roomy and if it's a diesel, nice and economical. Becuase it's a chrysler, prices are low, but they're every bit as good as anything else on the market, and they really are built for comfort.
