A: Kia's are not good cars. Don't be fooled by the affordable price and the warranty. If you look close, the warranty doesn't cover anything that will go wrong, and trust me, there will be plenty of things that go wrong. I work at a local shop and it is the same things wrong with these cars. At 40,000 miles, the brakes seize up and have to be completely replaced. That should not happen at 40,000 miles and the warranty does not cover it. They all either have an oil leak or a coolant leak...not covered by warranty. And they really aren't safe. And if you are looking for something for your son or daughter, you want something safe...not a death trap. Look into buying a certified used car from a local dealer that offers a warranty. Don't buy from a friend or private party...look for something that has either part of the factory warranty left, or from a place that will offer a warranty. Toyotas are good, reliable, and should last you forever if you take care of it and if it had been taken care of. Good luck, but please stay away from Kia.

A: According to Kia it tows 1,000 lbs.
Thats about right for what is basically a bloated compact car. Its actually lower than several of its larger competitors.
Perhaps you are thinking of GVWR. Even then its probably about average in its class. Its higher than some because the vehicle itself is heavier than several smaller vehicles in its class.

A: The Spectra will get better mileage , but the Rondo will be roomier . It depends on do you want more room at the expense of better ,mileage or not . Also looks sell. How do you like the looks of each model?

A: Mostly good. Have a friend who bought one a week ago after checking out a number of similar cars and he really likes it. Cargo room is awesome for car this size and it's a sharp looking car (volcanic red color). He paid $17,100 OUT THE DOOR INCLUDING tax and tag for one with a sticker price of $19,200. It has a $1200 rebate right now on the 5 passenger verison.
The Kia Rondo is built on a similar platform to the Kia Optima/Hyundai Sonata (Hyundai owns Kia if you didn't know!).
You should check out various online car review sites like: edmunds.com, yahooautos.com and cars. com to read reviews from owners who've had this model awhile and what they think. That way you get a lot of viewpoints and not just mine.

A: Go to Edmunds.com and type in vehicle information and where you are located. They will give you a true market value. I would then start even a couple hundred dollars lower. Dont forget that taxes and tags are not included in price that Edmunds gives you. Good luck!

Owners answer ONLY please, I don't want hearsay, uneducated opinions, or it's a Kia so it must be bad prejudices because my second cousins pet dog got run over by one or the like.
A: My Aunt owns one, she traded a Geo Tracker for it.
I don't know what problems she has had with it, but she is not happy.
Constantly saying I wish I never got rid of the GEO for this thing.
I know it has been in the shop several times.
I repainted the drivers door - the dealer scratched it and said it was already there.

We almost bought a Rondo for 18,000 dollars. I saw an ad in the paper it says 13,995!! Why did the other Kia dealership try to rip us off? I saw this lower price advertised by a different Kia dealership. Man I cannot believe it. Can I match this price at the Kia where we were before??
A: That's WAY to high. The kia website says it's $16,000. If you can find it for cheaper some where then get it there. A car salesman will sell it to you for $20,000 when it's worth about $15,000 because that means he gets $5,000 from you! If he sells it to you for the actual price he probably only gets about $120. Research as much as possible before you buy a car anywhere.
Q: The Rate of a Kia Rondo's Depreciation?
I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea as to the rate of depreciation for a 2008 Kia Rondo. I was thinking of getting one, it seems like a good car and a lot of features for the price but I was worried if the resale value will plummet after I buy it.
A: Unfortunately, Kia is tops in depreciation....followed by Hyundai, Mistubishi and Dodge.
You can expect your Rondo to depreciate by about 35-40% as soon as you drive it off the lot...and a full 50% by the end of it's first year.
Rondo is a nice car...Kia just hasn't helped itself in building value in its vehicles. They focus on selling cars cheap....which gives the impression they are "cheap cars" even if it isn't necessarily true.
