Q: 2008 Ford Focus S/SE vs. 2008 Kia Rio EX/EX Convenience?
Car shopping and narrowed it down to these two. The Ford is more expensive. What is your opinion?
A: the Ford Focus was smaller and more agile this new version doesn't handle as well.
the Rio scores low in crash test even w/side air bags.
of these 2 the Ford but a 06 or 05 is more fun to drive.
Q: Hi anyone running kia rio auto 2008 model, good or bad?
A: Korean cars are rubbish. They are slow, not very economical, cheap and nasty inside, and ugly. If you are thinking about buying one, just don't. Get a second hand car instead.
Q: I'm thinking of getting a Kia Rio?
I'm thinking of getting a 2008 Kia Rio LX.
I've heard that Kia's a good, I've heard that they are bad. Can you give me your opinions please? Personal experience preferred. This is my first car and I don't want something expensive. I want a small car with good gas mileage and I like the Rio LX. Please give me as much info as possible! Thank you in advance :)
*Wanna make sure it's safe and reliable*
BTW: If you have something completely un useful to say, you shouldn't answer the question. I asked for help not for stupidity!
Everyone else, thank you in advance fo rhelp!
A: Kia has poor quality control. That means some cars come out good (and when they work, they are rather nice) and some come out bad.
They've gotten better in recent years, but Hyundai has improved more. If you're thinking of getting any Kia, you should also be looking at its Hyundai equivalent. Hyundais and Kias are all based on the same platforms, and all use the same engines, but they're built in different factories. (Think German vs. Mexican VWs)
In this case, you want to look at the Hyundai Accent. Same car as the Rio under the skin, but with a better chance of being well-built.
That said, the Accent has had people getting inexplicably low MPG. I mean like high teens, low 20s. No diagnosis, no help from the dealer. Doesn't happen with every car, but it happens with enough to worry about it. The Kia should probably have the same problem. Oh yeah, and the Rio and Accent don't get very good fuel economy for their class, anyway.
Also, the warranty may look good, but a lot of people have had trouble getting dealers to honor it. You may, or you may not. It's a gamble.
The only thing that can be said about Kias is that you don't know what you're going to get. You pay for that low price through higher risk.
A Hyundai Accent is less of a gamble than a Kia Rio. A Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, or Toyota Yaris would be less of a gamble than that.
Q: Kia Rio vs Hyundai Accent (both 2008)?
Im buying a car, but i need some info and opinions about this 2 cars. Those are 2 cars i narrowed it down. So i get the Kia for $13,100 and the Accent for $14,300..... and so far price wins! But any info would be greatly appreciated. Take in count that im new to driving! Thanks!
A: they are essentially the same car since Hyundai owns Kia. I had a Kia Spectra and only had one problem with it, which was promptly fixed by the dealership at no cost to me. flip a coin or get the cheaper one.
Q: Can I return a car to the dealership and get my full money back?
I bought a brand new (2008) Kia Rio from a dealership just a few hours ago, but I don't want it (long story). It has a warranty and everything. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it; I just don't like it. Can I "return" it to the dealership without losing money? I decided on a financing payment plan.
Thanks!
A: There is no 3 day right to rescind on vehicle purchases in the United States. There is no 24 hour rule in the United States. All return policies must come from the dealership if they so choose to offer.
The only thing you can do is to try to talk with the GM and ask them if you can maybe swap for a different vehicle, or possibly get your money back. I hope this helps to clarify.
Q: Info on the Kia Rio? anyone?
is it a good car? can anyone tell me the pros and cons with it and if its worth purchasing. years 2006-2008. thanks!
o, its the LX version
A: The Kia Rio is mechanically identical to the redesigned Hyundai Accent. Hyundai is the parent company of Kia, and Hyundai is currently #3 in quality (beating out Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and every domestic maker... only Lexus and Porsche are better). http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2006/112_news46
So, yes, they are good cars, however the quality from Hyundai hasn't filtered completely down to Kia, as Kia's quality isn't quite as good as Hyundai's. But they're still better than other makes (like Mazda, Scion, etc). So, with that in mind they will depreciate quickly. Suggest a low-mileage used, instead of new. Q: Which of these three cars is worth purchasing?
2008 Chevy Aveo - New
2007 Ford Focus ZX3 - 7,000 miles
2007 Kia Rio - 12,000 miles
I haven't heard a lot of good info on the Aveo. We are looking to purchase a smaller vehicle b/c we have street parking in the city. We're looking for 10-13k in price and all three of these fit the description. Should I go w/ one of these cars, or should we keep looking elsewhere?
A: FORD FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Toyotas are pieces of crap. Very low quality, generic, unreliable, and driving a toyota is driving a lawn mower. The focus has the best MPG of any ford and are great quality and will last decades. king_davis13 is wrong the Ford Focus is based off of the Mazda3. Ford owns part of Mazda. My 2001 focus gets around 37 MPG and has been crashed twice and still works perfectly. It drives flawlessly and has plenty room. Also check out the Mercury Sable! Affordable, very luxurious, lots of room, good MPG. Both of these cars are within $10,000.
Q: Can someone let me know their opinion or experience with a couple type used cars Im looking at?
I am looking at a couple of used cars and would like someones input if they have owned or know anything about the type of cars I am looking at. The first one is 2005 Dodge Neon SXT. It is pretty well equipt and I DO want an automatic. The second is a KIA Rio. As I said they need to be auto and pretty well loaded. But any input for The years 2005-2008. Thanks
A: You picked two of the worst cars to buy used, the absolute worst. Try again

Q: thinking if leasing a versa?
nissan was advertising leases on brand new versa's for only $60 a month. so i am considering getting a versa since it is the only car in my price range. would you recommend the versa? any kind of complaints. i test drove a 2008 versa sedan yesterday and it was much smoother than my car (i have a 2004 kia rio). and i felt higher up which is nice when you are only 5'1". so would you recommend a versa (i would probably get a 2007 hatchback) or should i save money and keep my 2004 kia rio?
ps. i drive several times a year to california (which on average is 300 miles one way). and i live in las vegas so can it handle the drives and the heat? can it go uphill in 115* heat and not overheat (i always see cars parked on the side of the road due to problems overheating). and is it safe to continually make that long drive by myself?
A: Keep your car and when it becomes necessary go ahead and upgrade to another Kia, maybe a Spectra 5. Use the Kia loyalty and all the other factory rebates. I have an '04 Optima and have driven from Augusta, GA to Vegas many times and it's been great. Leases are OK, if you drive very little and I think you probably drive a lot. Oh yeah, I think the place you're talking about is Baker grade, if you leave Baker going towards Vegas there are a lot of cars that can't handle the stress going uphill! With the Versa, look at the fine print, you may have to put a large dollar amount down and pay all sorts of dealer fees and other expenses. I'd stay with Kia if I were you- unless you just want to spend your money.
Q: Buy a NEW car or a USED car?
I can't decide between a new car and a used car.
I will be driving 92.44 km (57.94mi) 5 days a week to work.
For a new car I would be looking at entry level vehicles only (such as Chevy Aveo, Pontiac Wave, Kia Rio, etc). A new car is enticing because I can have a full warranty and not worry about the car.
Used car - I don't know what to look for. I need good gas mileage because of the amount of driving each week.
I will have this job from July 2, 2008 until the end of August 2009, and then I will be in teacher's college.
I need to decide soon so I can go and wrangle the dealers. Thanks!
I should also add that I am 27 years old and insurance issues need not apply to me. The car will not be in my name b/c I can't have a car worth more than 5,000 and still receive osap. My job is a very good paying job so I can afford a new car and to pay off osap for this year off.
For the suggestions about a Honda Civic, I am a really tall girl and I cannot fit in those cars!
A: New cars rarely make a smart financial choice. As the previous answer states, a car that you pay $20,000, can easily become a $15,000 as soon as you buy it.
If you’re looking to save money, the smartest way to go is to buy a 1-2 year old domestic vehicle because they don’t hold their value well as foreign made cars. (This is not so much a reflection of quality as it is that American car manufactures are forced to inflate the prices of their cars to compensate for insanely high worker wages and benefits.) That way, someone else (with these cars usually a corporate fleet) has already suffered the huge depreciation.
Since a warranty is your concern, look into GM certified used vehicles. For ’07 and newer models (yes, can can find pre-owned '08s by now) comes with the balance of the 5 yr/100,000 mi warranty. Just read reviews on the many car website out there, and when you find a model or two you like, Google “[car model] problems” or “[car model] complaints.” It’s wise to know if many people have had similar issues with a particular car. Just make sure the extra you pay for an ’07 vs. ’06 makes the warranty work the extra expense.
I just bought a 2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx for $11,000. Brand new, I think that car was something like $22,000. Because I bought an ’06, mine didn’t have the super-long warranty, but it made more $ sense. To get an ’07, I would have spent at least $3,500 more, and my last Chevrolet, which lasted 10 years, only needed about $3,000 of work over its entire life and half that was in the last few years I had it.
When it comes to negotiations, do your research. Walk into a dealership with info on what other dealers are offering in terms of price. And don’t be afraid to walk away from a dealership that doesn’t want to negotiate. Right now, the used car market is pretty soft so you should be able to find someone willing to play ball. Don’t EVER pay the sticker price!!!!

A: There is something wrong if you went through an entire negotiation process for, sat through (I would imagine) a couple of hours in the financing office and then a few hours later decide that you don't like it. Only there isn't anything wrong with the car! Did you not test drive it? Do research ahead of time? Realize that you were signing binding contracts?
I am not trying to jump on you but this isn't a dress that you got home and decided was too tight! This is a huge financial investment and several people who work for their living helped you through the process so I doubt that the dealer is going to just take it back without charging you something.
For example- the lenders who finance the dealer's financing you will probably charge the dealership! You have put additional miles on what was a brand new car and title transfer to your name has been initiated so now the dealer has a used car because you changed your mind after a few hours.
Good luck.
