Q: I drive a 2006 Kia Rio and my rpm's are too high on the highway(3500 at 120km/h). What could cause this?
There's no overdrive button. I'm only getting about 500km out of a full 40 litre tank, and all my driving is highway. I should be getting closer to 700km per tank. The only maintenance it MIGHT need is plugs changed and a new air filter.
A: Have an overdrive button on the shifter? Is it not pressed in by chance?
Q: Is the 2006 Kia Rio any good? How's the quality and reliability?
I've never owned a Korean car before. I've also checked some of the Kia car dealers' prices and they are not cheap. All previous and current Kia Rio owners, please give me some inputs.
If you've dissatisfied with your Rio, what's another alternative would you suggest?
A: The Kia lineup has one of the worse proven resale values of any vehicle on the market. Their warrenty of 100,000 miles sounds attractive, but it is only the powertrain, and you'll probably need it. Also, when looking to finance ANY Kia, a lot of the general banks will not finance them. Kia is generally compared to Daewoo...which is no longer produced nor can you get parts for anymore. All new vehicles drive pretty well for the first 10,000 miles or so, but plan on keeping the Kia for more than that because it'll be hard to sell. Good luck!
Q: What would be the best brand name of oil to use for a 2006 Kia rio?
A: there is not a best brand of oil for your car. As long as it meets the API rating of GF-4 and it is the correct viscosity then you are fine. People have no proof which oil is better. "my brothers cousins friend said Quaker state is the best oil". Those are kind of things I hear all the time. I own and operate 3 Pennzoil quick lube centers and I don't ever try to push Pennzoil. Its all about marketing and what you think is the best. I use all major brands at my stores for that reason. There really isnt one oil that is better than the other.
Q: Can my car run on E85 Ethanol as is? I have a 2006 Kia rio?
If not what modifications do I need? how much to have someone do it for me?
A: It may "run" but not well. Vehicles designed to run on E85 are generally know as "Flexible Fuel Vehicles". Among other things (different composition of fuel lines, stainless steel gas tank, etc) this means that the vehicle will automatically adjust the air fuel mixture for the fuel in use.
The best solution when E85 is generally available would be a vehicle specifically engineered to use it. The reason for this is that E85 has a very high 102 octane. This means that it could be used more efficiently in engines with higher compression ratios. Dynamically adjusting the compression ratio to suit the fuel would be difficult if not impossible.
Q: 2006 Kia Rio?
Who has seen the Kia Rio. If not,

Isn't it a sucky car? I was seeing a commercial for a local Kia dealer, and that car was advertised for $7,900? Do you think that is a right price?
A: I road tested this car and it boasted of an air conditioner which didn't work, there was a whistling sound coming from the window on the right side at speeds over 30 mph and the radio didn't work. The salesman was sitting next to me and told me that if I bought this piece of junk everything would be repaired. I laughed at him and said you've got to be kidding me. I believe this car is still for sale in Sault Ste. Marie.
Q: The clutch pedal on my 2006 Kia Rio is sqeeking--clutch is engaging and disengaging just fine but is squeeking
I can hear this noise from both the outside and inside of the car. What could it be?? Any ideas?
A: Doesn't matter. The 06 Rio has a 100000 mile warranty. Just take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it
Q: Anybody have a good or bad experience with a 2006 Kia Rio that they would like to share?
A: Check CONSUMER REPORTS NEW CAR BUYING GUIDE
and Edmunds.com TRUE COST TO OWN (TCO)
..before you buy that car or anything like it.
Kia Rio's are mediocre at best when it comes to...well everything.
On top of that, they aren't very safe, have sh*tty reliability and the resale value is so low that your car will be worth nothing when it comes time to trade.
Don't let the prospect of a new or newish car for what seems like a great price sucker you into buying a Kia Rio. It's an awful car that will actually cost you more to own in the long run (look up Edmunds TCO on google)
You'd be far far better off spending the same money on a slightly older Toyota or Honda with a bit more mileage. You will wind up with a much more reliable, higher quality, safer, more comfortable car that will be worth a lot more whenever you decide to sell it or trade it in.
Thats the bottom line. Don't take my word for it though. Consumer Reports and Edmunds will confirm everything I said.
Q: has anyone had problems with there 2006 kia rio?
A: you bought one of the cheapest cars on the market, what did you expect?
Q: 2006 Kia Rio stop light problem.?
With no pressure on brakes the stop lights are on. I push on the brakes and the lights go out. Whats up? I have to undo the battery so it wont run the battery down over night!
A: Sounds like you have a faulty brake light switch. They are not that expensive ($15 for one I replaced on my 1997 Oldsmobile) If you have cruise control, there will be TWO switches. look for the one with the most wires connected to it, this will be the brake light switch. It is mounted underneath the dash directly under the steering wheel. It is attached to a metal bar just ahead of the brake pedal. It is a spring-loaded switch that is normally off, and is on when you press the pedal, allowing the plunger to come out.

Q: KIA Rio 11 can it run on veg oil?
I have a kia rio 1500 2006 diesil has any one run it on veg oil if so how did it go?
A: yes you can, but its not as easy as you think...
i had a diesel volvo, run on oil from dirty dans burger vans... its cost me 300 quid to sort it out, and i kept it for 4yrs... without a problem.
veg oil is acidic after its been cooked in... it eats your distributor pumps innards...
you can use brand new oil, but you MUST tell swansea, coz if the man dips your tank, and you havent registered, youre nicked for avoiding duty. (tax)
and right now, its far too cold... the oil becomes like sludge... it needs to be thin as water, not like treacle...
Q: How much does it cost to have someone convert my car to run on ethatnol?
I have a 2006 kia rio
A: It should already run on the widely available Ethanol blends. If it's rated as a flex-fuel vehicle, it will already run on e85. Cost to convert a car that's not rated FFV will depend on the price of the parts at your supplier and whether you'll be doing the work yourself or having a mechanic do it. The lowest estimate I've ever seen claimed you could do it yourself for around $30.

Q: How much would it cost to convert my car to run on alternate fuel?
I have a 2006 Kia Rio
A: That depends on what alternate fuel you want to convert it to and if you want to be able to run multiple types of fuel.
