Q: What can be done to fix a 2003 Kia Rio where the automatic transmission does not shift?
My Boyfriend wants to purchase this car but he was told it would not shift out of 2nd gear. It is automatic. It has 50,000 miles on it and is being sold for $3400 american dollars.
A: Buy a different car!!! That is most likely an internal problem in the transmission, and the cost of the new tranny is going to be worth more than the car!! Check the blue book value of this vehicle - I wouldn't pay more than $500 USD for this car with a blown tranny unless I rebuilt automatics and if you do, why would you be asking us? By the time you get done buying the tranny and paying the labor to R&R you may as well have bought a NEW Kia Rio - they're only 12K and that's list price!
Q: HOW DO i fix a cat converter on a 2003 KIA Rio ?
2003 catalaty convetor bad is it easy to replace and how much should i pay to get it fix at a muffler shop ? any ideas , thank you
A: How do you know it's bad? If it is not physically damaged, take it back to the dealer. You r catalytic converter is covered for 8-years/80,000 miles.
E.P.A. guidelines state that replacement converters may be installed only in the following situations:
1. The vehicle is missing a converter
2. A state or local inspection program has determined that the existing converter needs replacement
3. Vehicles manufactured prior to 1996 must have more than 50,000 miles, and a legitimate need for replacement must be established and documented
4. In cases of OBD Il-equipped vehicles (1996 and later), the O.E. manufacturer's 8-year/80,000-mile warranty must have expired and a legitimate need for replacement must be established and documented.
Please note that Federal law prohibits removal or replacement of a properly functioning O.E. converter.
When replacement of the converter is appropriate (as outlined above), the E.P.A. further requires that:
1. It be installed in the same location as the original
2. It be the same type as the original (i.e., two-way, three-way, three-way plus air/three-way plus oxidation)
3. It be the proper model for the vehicle application as determined and specified by the manufacturer
4. It be properly connected to any existing air injection components on the vehicle
5. It be installed with any other required converter for a particular application
6. It be accompanied by a warranty information card to be completed by the installer.
Q: where could i find a really cheap engine for a 2003 kia rio online with low miles? ?
I have searched everywhere and i just cant seem to find on that is under 1,100 dollars. anyone know where i could find one?
A: You should check out a site called http://www.uneedapart.com, there you can make a request for the engine you need and they will send it to hundreds of salvage yards across the US. If they have the engine they will get back to you with a price. They are usually pretty reasonable, I have had a lot luck when looking for parts for my Jetta.

Q: How many miles can I get out of a 2003 Kia Rio Engine. If properly maintained.?

Q: I have a 2003 KIA Rio, when I take off from start or hit brake getting a popping noise. I give up.?
A: It's either c.v. axle joints, or possibly a bad strut. unless you have a dead body in the trunk or something of the like that you may have overlooked
Q: Why is my 2003 Kia Rio so loud when I drive on the freeway, and how can I fix this?
A: Check the exhaust for holes or an internally rusted out muffler as well as noisy tires that result sometimes when you don't rotate and reverse their direction of rotation. Try X-ing your tires to the rear of the car to reverse the direction of rotation. If you have air leaks that cause road noise, find and seal them. Turn your radio up otherwise.

Hello, I have recently financed a 2003 Kia Rio, and I have had it for just almost three months, and the reason that i got the car in the first place is to have a more realiable vehicle, because I was add another addition to my family and I have 1 son already, but i found out that I am having Twins so that would be 3 kids now and my car is not big enough, so I called the dealership back and talked to the same Salesman that i got my RIO from and told him that i need a van instead and would like to take the RIO back and he said sure. Now I am just wondering whats going to happen here and will get be screwed over and have to pay 2 cars or something, because I only got the RIO for 6,995.
Thanks
