Q: How can I disconnect my catalytic converter Kia Optima 2006?
I want to disconnect my catalytic converter so my exhaust is richer in Carbon Monoxide.

A: well you got two choices you can cut it off all together and weld a spacer between and have the chance of failing an inspection or you can cut it off and beat the catalyic out and weld it back on fooling the mechanic that does the inspection and it will have deeper sound but it can be heard by a good mechanic

Q: should i trade my 2006 kia optima?
in Oct of 2006 I bought a brand new Kia Optima. I now owe roughly 14k on it but its value is only about 12k. I know each year the value will continue to decrease more and more, which will leave me with a car that i owe more on than its worth. My husband says we should keep my car and pay it off, I say we should trade it in for a better make, such as toyota. Are kia optima's even a good enough car to depend on for a long time?

A: To say a KIA is a bad car is foolish because they are not, they are not the most stylish car made nor are they the most comfortable, having said that they have a heck of a nice warranty. Toyota and Honda do not have a really good warranty (2008 Toyota 36,000 miles or three years, and Honda the same as Toyota. The KIA is 100,000 miles or ten years. If you have the trade bug there is only one way that you are going to get to come close to break even and that is for you to have the car detailed and then sell the car yourself. Remember for every little ding on it you will have to take money off of the selling and after all is said and done you are going to have to make up the difference. I will make a suggestion to you, take the car to your local car was where they do the car for you and have them detail the car for you and wax the car as well. have them clean up the car on the inside shampoo the carpet. make it look as sweet as the day that you bought it and you might find that you really don't want to get rid of it at all. If you go and buy a Toyota or a Honda you will feel the same about it in a few months. The other thing that you have to think about and that is the ever increasing cost of gasoline and if yur car is a four cylinder it gets pretty good gas milage and the toyota that you will think is the sweetest may not but if you are buying a new car because of the need of a four cylinder it still isn't worth it your over all cost wouldbe to high and there is one more thing I want to share with you right now you can buy a car that gets over 40 miles to the gallon it is a car that will cost you after tax and deler prep and transportation about $27.000 depending on your credit will cost you up to about $600 a month even with 0% interest the cost would be about $450 a month only you are going to go from about 36 months to 60 months and the following year there will be many new cars coming out that will get really good mileage

Q: Manufacture Warranty on 2006 KIA Optima?
The car was purchased as Demo model in 2006 with 3,000 and it was confirmed with Kia that as 2nd Owner, there would be 5 Years/60,000 Miles warranty on Transmission/Powertrain. After the car was bought, came to know that it had been involved in Accident around 1000 Miles. I being 2nd Owner and this scenario, would the warranty be valid and cover for any issues?

A: few things here.. you purchased the vehicle that was a demo unit? Did the dealership disclose to you that the vehicle was in an accident? Demo cars are driven by dealership staff only which means that THEY were in an accident with the car. And as far as the warranty, what is Kia's basic/powertrain warranty? It should not matter if you are the second owner, the warranty coverage period and the standard warrany issued for all new vehicles should be in effect from the date of first use (date that the vehicle was orignally put into use for the manufacturers warranty) You may have been sold an extended warranty though.

Q: i just purchase my new car a 2006 kia optima do you think it was a smart car to choose from?it feels great!?

A: OOPS, you're a little bit late on that question. Shoulda asked BEFORE the purchase.

Q: my boyfriend recently traded his 2004 jeep liberty for a 2006 kia optima and then realyzed when it was too lat
that he cant pay for it because of the price of insurance so we tried to surrender the vehicle the car lot said they wont and cant take it back because it is in his name he is trying to file for bankruptcy and was told by his lawyer to surrender the vehicle to the car lot we tired to talk to the general manager and he wouldnt help us out is there anyway we can get rid of this car

A: Under the term of most bankruptcy agreements in the U.S., you are able to keep one vehicle. I would talk to the attorney about that option. Other wise you can park the vehicle were the finance company can easily get to it, then call them and tell them to come and get it.

Q: Do prople like the new 2006.5 KIA Optima?

A: my neighbor bought his wife one and she loves it and the gas mileage its getting,so far though they have had 0 trouble from it,those are good cars, and they hold up well, the majority of the people that have them like them, the ones you see complaining about them ,haven't took good care of them, and like any other car made they do require maintenance work to be done occasionally, other than that they will last real good, hope this helps, good luck with it.

Q: KIA Magentis V6 2006/7 (Optima) is a good car?
Would appreciate if somebody can share the experience with this car. I was thinking about the Honda Accord but the KIA compares really well

A: honda totally kia recquires alot of maintanance and it has a low resale value honda is just the opposite

Q: What vehicle new or used gets the best gas mileage?
I'm about ready to trade my 2006 Kia Optima in for a car that get's better gas mileage. Any suggestions? I want something small, but safe especially for the area I live which can get ice and snow during the winter.

A: At 25mpg combined, your Kia Optima is already pretty fuel-efficient. You are not going to see much improvement in fuel economy by switching to another car of the same class in recent vintage. The 4-cylinder Honda Accord for instance also gets 25mpg combined. The Chevy Cobalt mentioned by the guy below only gives you an improvement of 2mpg combined. I'm not sure if it's such a good idea to trade down to the really lightweight high-mpg cars from 15 years ago-- Such old cars tend to be near the end of their service lives, with lots of wear-and-tear, and they usually lack today's standard safety equipment like antilock brakes, airbags, electronic stability control, etc. Even if you went for something like a Toyota Yaris you are only going to see an improvement of 7mpg combined, and you are going from a midsized car down to a subcompact. Unless you want to go for a 46mpg-combined Toyota Prius (which isn't exactly cheap and has a 3-month waiting list due to the demand), you are not going to see much improvement in fuel economy. I'd say keep your Kia Optima until hybrids become cheaper in the future-- Honda is coming out with their Prius-wannabe next year and it's going to sell for around $18,000.

Q: How can I get rid of my car without harming my credit??
I have a 2006 Kia Optima that I purchased in July. I have a loan balance of $15000 and it is only worth about $9000 trade in. I am going back to school and cannot afford the monthly payments on it anymore. I want to get something that is cheaper monthly than what I have. What are my options?? PLease HELP!!

A: Unfortunately, unless you can find someone to buy it for the loan balance, you don't have many options. If you trade it in they will add the remaining balance on your loan to the new car, if you have been making your payments on time and you have good credit you may be able to get a lower rate which could equal a lower payment. Another option may be voluntary repossession. You could call your finance company and ask someone there if they know how much a voluntary repo affects your credit. Sorry!! Good Luck!!

Q: help, my boyfirend was in a car accident, and the car is totaled?
I would like to know what kind of settlement we should be lo0king for and what should we do to get it. He also has a fractured wrist from the accident. his car was a 2006 kia optima. and it was not his fault.

A: I was in a car accident 5 weeks ago and broke my wrist also and a couple bones in my hand . some old man cut me off and i slammed into him causing vehicle tottalage, dont expect to claim to much mabye enough for the car and hospital bills plus like a grande or 2 for pain and suffering

Q: Interior car lights not turning on?
I have a 2006 Kia Optima. Last night, I turned my car on at night and turned my headlights on. The headlights came on, but the interior lights that light up the speedometer, gas meter, automatic clutch, etc. that usually accompany the headlights would not turn on. I played with the switch on the left of the steering wheel that normally turns these lights on and off and nothing happened. It's dangerous because I can't see how fast I'm going. Any ideas of what could be wrong/ideas of how to fix it? Thanks!

A: Check your fuses.

Q: why wont my trunk shut?
i have a 2006 kia optima and my trunk wont stay close. i mean it shuts but the latch wont hook onto the thing the bottom. i've tested the latch and nothings wrong with it. could u help help me?

A: it sounds like something got knocked out of alignment.. take it to the service dept of the closest kia dealer, and they will usually have someone take a quick look at it, and straighten it up, often at no charge.. be nice and tip the guy that does it if so..

Q: How do I take over a car loan?
a friend of the familys has a 2006 kia optima he bought it 2 years ago for $22,500 he paid 2 years on it and there are 2 years left and he was $10,000 left on it and he wants me or my dad to take over the car loan he never drove it how would I go about takin over the car loan could I do It i am 17 or will my dd have to do it and my dad has had great credit up until 2006 when he lost his job will he be able to get the loan my dad has a car that is paid off in july of 2009

A: You don't unless you borrow enough to pay off his loan from your own lender, or get the permission of his lender to put it in your name and pay the remaining balance. At 17 you can't enter into any type of financial agreement, even if you did have a job with verifiable income and a good credit rating. And it appears your father has no verifiable income to get a loan in his name, so neither of you would qualify. Or if he does, from your comment his credit rating is not good now. Maybe you're thinking to just leave it in his name, and make the payments until it's paid for and then he would sign over the title to you? Not a good idea. Let's say you somehow get the car impounded. You couldn't go to the towing yard and get it out, you aren't the owner. Let's say you have an accident. His insurance finds out you are the one actually driving the car 100% of the time, and you aren't named on the insurance and refuses to cover you. What about adding you as primary driver? Then the lender is upset because you aren't the person who is supposed to be driving it. Or what if you paid it off, he said "Thanks" and took it back? His car, in his name, the police would back him up. Bad deal all the way around.

Q: Question about my cars gas tank, not accepting gas?
My 2006 kia optima, well about 6 months ago there used to be a silver plate, when you open your gas tank door and where you put the gas pump in at, there used to be a silver plate there, but somehow it disappeared. But, now in the past 4 weeks, 5-6 months after the plate fell off, the gas pump keeps shutting off on me! It will pump about 1 gallon of gas, when my tanks on empty, and won't let me pump anymore! I've been fooling around with it to let me fill it up, I have to guess otherwise it won't shut off and spray gas all over. I'm afraid one of these times it's not going to let me put any gas in! And, I'm going to be screwed! Anyone know what's wrong with my gas tank? What it needs to be fixed? Is there some sort of sensor broke? Like I said before the 'plate' fell off, but that was about 6 months ago, and this just started happening within the last 4 weeks! I have no warranty on this car or anything, had it over 2 years. I just need to know what needs to be fixed. Thanks!

A: you need to take it in to a service shop and have the pull your filler hose off it is probably stuck in the top of your tank. Try pumping it really slow for a while till you can do that. Other than that some vehicles have that problem from design do to how the fill hose got to the tank. I have a ford truck that would do that and all it was what the hose had to many bends in it. When i pumped it slow it would fill all the way up.

Q: Would I be able to get out of a loan if the car dealer and bank messed up on paperwork?
On August 6, 2006 I bought a 2002 KIA Optima LX from a dealer where I live. Well I found out that they put the car as an SE which is a lot more money then an LX and I told the bank would I be able to get out my loan because I'm being overcharged by the bank and now I can't trade it in because that error. Also they said I have features that I don't even have.

A: Possibly yes, but they'll ask you how come it took you so long to come up with this.
