Q: Where are the factory alarm arm and disarm wires in a 2001 Kia Optima SE V6?
In most cars' factory car alarms there are wires that can be tapped into at several points in the car, which when given a ground pulse will arm or disarm the alarm. I need to find these wires inside my car so i can connect them to an aftermarket car alarm I am installing.

I just got my license and I found a used 2001 Kia Optima for $5,000 but everyones telling me not to get it because of the mileage on the car, nothings wrong with it but I dont want it to mess up on me later & be stuck without a car at all...opinions?
A: take it to a shop and have a mechanic check it out. Make sure there are no trouble codes or warning lights. You didn't say if it was an LX or SE which makes the value of the car very different plus if it was auto or stick. I assume it was auto and have done a quick blue book assessment on your car. I wouldn't pay more than $4500 if it was in good or excellent condition if it was an SE. If it is an LX I wouldn't pay more than $3000 that is for an excellent condition according to the kelley site. it has a radiator cap and a rubber hose on the right side of the radiator that goes downward to a plastic resevour with a 16 inch neck with a non pressurized plastic cap on the top.The resivour is way down below and hidden from view.There are no full or low markings on the 16 inch neck of the plastic resevour,but the yellow sticker says keep between full and low.

A: If you're talking about RCA outputs, then I really doubt it. Most factory radios do not come equipped with RCAs, but newer high end cars might have them since they're coming from the factory with DVD players and such nowadays. Kia's ia waaaaaaay down on the low end side so there isn't anything extra on them usually. So if you want to put in a nice stereo (satellite speakers + subs) then you'll be better off replacing the factory cd player. Just keep in mind that some manufacturers nowadays put part of the car's "brain" in the stereo. GM does this but I don't know about Kia so you would do well to call your local dealership and talk to their electrical expert.

A: I have a 2004 Kia Optima EX V6 (basically the same as the SE) and have had no problems so far, I have over 71,000 miles and it runs smooth and strong. I did invest in a K&N air filter and had the door lock receiver fixed under warranty. I have replaced a few buld and the driver's sidemarker. It has been a wonderful car and I love the look of the car, it looks classier than most of the cars on the road today, just my opinion. I have the auto with manual shift and it works pretty good in the mountains. It won't ruin your transmission if you don't shift at the right moment, it'll let you rev fairly high and switch automatically when the transmission is on the verge of destroying itself. Apparently the system was designed by Porsche and licensed to Kia. Great car and would buy another any day and recommend to friends and family.

my back up lights also doesnt work i even replaced the bulbs still nothing and my alt and check eng lights come on at the same time and go away does it ever couple min could this be because of the other electrical probelms ?????

Q: 2001 Kia Optima Question?
My Kia Optima has 207,000 miles on it - it hasn't failed me once. The engine was rebuilt at 98,000 miles due to a faulty oil change at Wal*Mart and since it had the 100,000 mile warrantee on it Kia sued Wal*Mart and got them to pay for the engine. But the frame has alot of miles on it. Anyone know if I can be expecting any body problems?
A: Kia's are pretty solid for little cars and seem to run pretty well. As with any car you can expect spots of rust here and there under your vehicle but nothing that will hinder driveablity. In the next couple of years you might need a few spots repaired for your state inspection.

A: Hi there, the Kia or the Mazda...
~~Some of my friends owned both a 626 and optima before and heres the thing...Both cars has problems occuring. For example, the windsheild wiper turns on unexpectly when you make turns in the 626...or the Optima's engine stalls when u drive it over 120mph...or how the Optima's interior making wierd noises while you drive. The better of the two, as my friends would advise, would be the Mazda, because any repairs that may needed are very cheap.
